The main objective of the scheme was to provide residential schools for Scheduled Tribes including PTGs in an environment conducive to learning to increase the literacy rate among the tribal students and to bring them at par with other population of the country.
Ashram Schools aim to provide free, quality residential education to children from marginalized and tribal communities to promote social equity and holistic development.
Free of cost learning in ashram schools for ST students
Any ST area (NON NAXAL) is eligible for obtaining funds for building Ashram Schools (50% State: 50% Union)
