In order to make handloom sector more sustainable, organized and competitive against machine made fabrics and also provide an assured market and better price for their product, this programme has been developed

Objective

the National Handloom Development Programme (NHDP) is to enhance the skills of handloom weavers, promote market access, and preserve traditional weaving techniques. It aims to improve the socio-economic conditions of weavers and strengthen the handloom sector's sustainability.

Benefits

provides weavers with skill development, financial support, and market access, enhancing their productivity and income. It also promotes the preservation of traditional handloom techniques and supports sustainable growth in the handloom sector.

Eligibility

This scheme is only for the weavers who are identified in the BLC

There is no application process. The BLC are identified by State level through agency hired by the government.
