The scheme provides financial assistance to destitute senior citizens to ensure their social and economic security. It helps them meet basic needs through direct monthly aid via DBT.
Beneficiaries aged 60 to 79 years receive a monthly assistance of ₹1,000. and aged 80 years or above receive a monthly assistance of ₹1,250. The assistance amount is transferred directly to the beneficiary’s post office or bank account through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer).
Destitute elderly persons aged 60 years or above. Should not have a son aged 21 years or older. In the case of a disabled person, the disability should be more than 75%, and the age limit should be 45 years or more. Elderly individuals whose son is mentally unstable or suffering from severe illnesses like cancer or tuberculosis can also apply. The applicant's annual income should not exceed ₹1,20,000 in rural areas and ₹1,50,000 in urban areas. Must have been a permanent resident of Gujarat for at least 10 years. Elderly couples aged 60 years or above both are eligible.
