To reduce seepage losses from farm ponds and enhance water storage capacity, ensuring efficient use of water for irrigation and promoting water conservation in agriculture.
To prevent water seepage in farm ponds by using HDPE/LLDPE geomembrane lining. To conserve water for longer duration during dry periods. To promote sustainable farming by ensuring availability of stored water. To increase crop productivity by ensuring assured irrigation.
Saves 60–70% water by preventing seepage. Ensures availability of water year-round for irrigation. Helps in cultivating more crops or crop diversification. Reduces dependence on erratic rainfall or external water sources. Government provides 50% to 90% subsidy, depending on farmer category and state norms. Increased income and yield through better water management.
Any registered farmer (individual or group). The farmer must own or lease agricultural land. Should have a constructed farm pond or planning to construct one as per approved design. Must not have availed similar subsidy in the last 3–5 years (as per scheme rule). Priority given to: Small & marginal farmers Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes Women farmers Rainfed / drought-prone areas
