To provide safe and affordable hostel facilities for Scheduled Caste students to support their continued education and reduce dropout rates.
The scheme provides grant in aid to voluntary organizations running hostels. The benefits provided are following: 1) Maintenance grant @ INR 1500 per month per inmate (for 10 months), 2) Grant on pay of hostel keeper - INR 5500 to INR 6500, 3) INR 50 per inmate for panchayat areas (towards building rent), 4) INR 70 per inmate in municipal area and INR 90 per inmate for Muncipal Corporation, 5) INR 3000 for watchman (salary), INR 3500 to cook (towards salary), INR 3000 to assstant cook (salary), 6) Grant is paid for electrification, sports equipments, library books, newspapers, periodicals etc, 7) the organization which runs such 3 or more hostels are being paid 5% administrative grant on expenditure incurred on approved items
The hostel must be according to the designated specifications of Government of Gujarat with appropriate facilities as per checklist and priority given to SC Students
